ONE OK ROCK Joins AR Game for Monster Hunter-Inspired Music Video

Attention gamers, get ready for an exciting announcement! On September 14, brace yourselves for the launch of an all-new AR game, “Monster Hunter Now,” a collaboration between Niantic Inc. and CAPCOM, CO., LTD.

To mark this special occasion, the two companies have teamed up with the renowned band ONE OK ROCK to create a captivating music video for their latest track, “Make It Out Alive.” For a sneak peek, check out the teaser on ONE OK ROCK’s official YouTube channel, with the full version dropping on August 29.

As a token of gratitude for surpassing two million pre-registrations, players will enjoy exclusive in-game makeup options to personalize their hunters, along with a generous 500-item box expansion upon the game’s launch. In another exciting reveal, a striking jacket image showcasing the fearsome monster Diablos from the game has been unveiled in collaboration with ONE OK ROCK and Niantic.

When the game debuts on September 14, aspiring hunters can wield an array of weapons, including the Sword & Shield, Great Sword, Long Sword, Hammer, Light Bowgun, and Bow. As for the game’s monsters, players will encounter an impressive lineup of 13 creatures at launch: Great Jagras, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, Barroth, Great Girros, Tobi-Kadachi, Jyuratodus, Paolumu, Anjanath, Rathian, Legiana, Rathalos, and Diablos.

Prepare for an immersive experience as “Monster Hunter Now” invites you to “hunt monsters in the real world.” Employing the power of your smartphone and camera, you’ll venture into your physical surroundings to track down these formidable beasts.

A novel addition to the game is the Paintball mechanic, enabling you to mark monsters for future hunts—whether you’re playing solo or planning an adventure with friends. Even when you’re not actively playing, your trusty Palico can automatically Paintball passing monsters, giving you the freedom to pursue them at your convenience.

Niantic’s acclaimed history in AR gaming includes the 2016 launch of the Pokémon GO app in select countries, and their creative prowess extends to 2021’s Pikmin Bloom, an AR app inspired by Nintendo’s Pikmin franchise.

CAPCOM’s latest installment in the Monster Hunter series, “Monster Hunter Rise,” made its debut on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021, followed by a PC release on Steam in January 2022. The game’s expansion, “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak,” arrived on Switch and PC via Steam in June 2022, with subsequent releases on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and Xbox Game Pass on April 28.
