This means that not only the film, which will be titled RE: PENGUINDRUM cycle, is fully funded, but surplus funds will go towards improving animation and creating new songs.
The crowdfunding campaign, which was only open to Japanese residents, raised 105,192,960 yen ($ 957,606) against a funding target of just 10 million yen. RE: PENGUINDRUM cycle, a compilation film of the original television anime from 2011 with new elements, will be directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara, with character designs by Lily Hoshino, the television animation having been made in BRAIN’S BASE and the theatrical edition by Lapin.
