Moreover, over 800 Pokemon names have been localised into Hindi, making the gameplay even more immersive for the Indian audience. These translated names are accessible on the official Pokedex page, and players will also soon have the option to obtain detailed Pokemon information in Hindi.
Reflecting their commitment to the Indian gaming community, Niantic has also revamped Pokemon Go’s in-app coin bundle prices on the Google Play Store and App Store. An additional coin bonus exclusively for the Indian market has been launched on the Pokemon Go Web Store.
To mark the Hindi localisation, Niantic has curated an exclusive month-long event for Indian players. Enthusiasts stand a chance to earn a plethora of rewards by participating in exclusive Field Research, Timed Research, and Bonuses.
Adding to the cultural celebration, a heartwarming short film titled “The Journey of One Dream” was released. Focusing on the profound relationship between a father and his son, the film encapsulates the essence of family bonds. This cinematic treat is accessible on the Pokemon Asia Official Youtube channel in four Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.
Omar Tellez, Niantic’s VP for emerging markets, emphasized the company’s dedication to building a global community, remarking, “The addition of Hindi language support is a testament to our unwavering commitment towards India and its rapidly expanding gaming audience.” Tellez also mentioned Niantic’s achievement of adding over 500,000 Pokestops in India since 2016, along with hosting numerous ground events across Indian cities.
Echoing Tellez’s sentiments, Takato Utsunomiya, COO at TPC, expressed, “The localization into Hindi marks the beginning of a promising journey. We envision a deep-rooted presence in India and look forward to growing with the Pokemon fan community.”
This strategic move by Niantic and TPC not only resonates with the cultural nuances of India but also promises a richer gaming experience for its vast Indian audience.
