During the “Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai Online 2023” livestream event, Kadokawa announced an exciting development – the renowned light novel series “Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter” (Kōjo Denka no Kateikyōshi), created by storywriter Riku Nanano and illustrator cura, is set to receive its own anime adaptation.
The English edition of the novel series is being published by J-Novel Club, and it unveils a captivating narrative: Allen, a talented young sorcerer, faces the heartbreak of failing the final exam for his coveted position at the royal court.
Seeking refuge in a simpler life in the countryside, he encounters a financial hurdle, unable to afford even a train ticket. With no other option but to secure a job, he stumbles upon an extraordinary opportunity – tutoring Tina, the daughter of Duke Howard, one of the kingdom’s most influential nobles.
Tina, despite her exceptional academic prowess, grapples with the inability to cast a single spell. To compound her troubles, the entrance exams for the prestigious Royal Academy loom on the horizon, and magical aptitude is a non-negotiable requirement.
Can Allen employ his unique spellcasting skills to unravel the mystery behind Tina’s magical impediment, a conundrum that has eluded even the kingdom’s most accomplished sorcerers? And does the duke, her father, truly desire his assistance?
Nanano originally commenced serializing this enthralling tale on the Kakuyomu platform back in October 2017. The novels were officially released in print format by Kadokawa in December 2018, with the 15th volume hitting the shelves on August 19.
Meanwhile, Tamura Mutō embarked on a manga adaptation, serialized in Shōnen Ace Plus in September 2019, and the third manga volume was released by Kadokawa on April 26.
