On Friday, Sony Pictures India took to Twitter to announce the Indian theatrical release of the Psycho-Pass Providence film on July 28. As part of their promotion, the company is streaming a Japanese trailer with English subtitles to generate excitement for the upcoming release.

On May 12, the movie premiered in Japan, offering 4DX, MX4D, and regular screenings. It secured the #4 spot during its opening weekend. Additionally, an English dub will be made for the film.

In January 2118, Chief Inspector Akane Tsunemori of the Criminal Investigation Department receives a distressing report about an incident aboard a foreign vessel. The body of Professor Milicia Stronskaya has been discovered, and a formidable paramilitary group called the Peacebreakers is implicated. Their target: the renowned “Stronskaya Document,” containing groundbreaking research papers. Reunited with the former fugitive Shinya Kogami, Akane embarks on a harrowing case that surpasses all expectations. The contents of the Stronskaya Papers could potentially unravel the foundations of Japan’s government and even shake the core of the Sibyl System itself. It is within this untold tale that the missing link is unveiled.
Under the direction of Naoyoshi Shiotani, Production I.G spearheads the film, with TOHO handling distribution. Accompanying series writer Makoto Fukami as scriptwriter is Tow Ubukata, a valued addition to the franchise since Psycho-Pass 2.

Ubukata is also credited for the film’s composition. Naoyuki Onda, the esteemed character designer and chief animation director, returns alongside key members of the creative team: Makiko Suzuki as the color key artist, Shūichi Kusamori as the art director, GEMBA for the 3D CGI, Eiji Arai as the director of photography, Yoshinori Murakami as the editor, Yūgo Kanno as the composer, and Yoshikazu Iwanami as the sound director. The film remains faithful to the original Psycho-Pass anime by Gen Urobuchi. Ling Tosite Sigure graces the film with their captivating theme song “Alexithymia Spare,” while EGOIST provides the thought-provoking ending theme “Tōjisha” (The One Concerned).
The pioneering Psycho-Pass anime debuted in 2012, captivating audiences across 22 episodes. Subsequently, the 11-episode Psycho-Pass 2 television series aired in October 2014, and the Psycho-Pass movie premiered in Japan in January 2015. Netflix now streams the film in India.
Expanding the franchise’s universe, the Psycho-Pass SS or Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System project features a trilogy of films. The first film, Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System Case.1 Tsumi to Batsu (Crime and Punishment), released in Japan in January 2019. Shortly after, the second film, Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System Case.2 First Guardian, debuted in February 2019. Lastly, the third film, Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System Case.3 Onshū no Kanata ni ____ (In the Realm Beyond Is ____), graced the screens in March 2019.

Continuing the captivating narrative, the Psycho-Pass 3 anime series aired in October 2019, featuring hour-long episodes. Exclusive streaming rights were acquired by Amazon Prime Video for audiences worldwide. Naoyoshi Shiotani resumed directing duties at Production I.G, while Akira Amano, the renowned manga creator, returned as the original character designer.
