The PVR Group and Inox Leisure have completed their merger and have now formed the largest multiplex chain in India. The merger was announced in April 2022 and has now gained approval from the National Company Law Tribunal. With this merger, PVR-INOX will be opening 40 more screens across India by the end of March 2023, further expanding its reach and presence in the country.

The PVR Group currently has around 900 screens across 78 cities in India and Inox Leisure has around 722 screens across 74 cities. With this merger, PVR-INOX will now own 16-17% of total screens in India and 44%-50% of multiplex screens. This gives the company a significant market share and solidifies its position as a major player in the Indian entertainment industry.

In addition to its multiplex chain, PVR Cinemas also has a production and distribution section, PVR Pictures. Recently, PVR Pictures has released various content such as the Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night anime film and the Kimetsu Orchestra Concert in Indian theaters.
This shows the company’s commitment to bringing diverse and high-quality content to Indian audiences. PVR Cinemas’ Facebook page has also recently confirmed Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) film for a theatrical release in India, further expanding the company’s offerings to movie-goers.
