The TV anime “Rurouni Kenshin – Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story,” based on the original work by Nobuhiro Watsuki, has released its fifth promotional video and a new key visual. It was also announced that Satoshi Hino will voice the character Saito Hajime, Kenshin’s arch-nemesis. Additional details about the opening theme and distribution information were also revealed.

The news was announced on June 18th at a screening event for the anime held at United Cinema Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo. The key visual features central characters such as Himura Kenshin, Kamiya Kaoru, Sagara Sanosuke, Takani Megumi, and Shinomori Aoshi. The fifth promotional video captures intense expressions of Kenshin and Saito, who is seen in a haori. The character visual of Saito Hajime, Kenshin’s nemesis from the Bakumatsu era and former captain of the third unit of the Shinsengumi, was also unveiled.
Satoshi Hino, who has stated that Saito is his favorite character in the series, commented on his role, “I hope to express the straightforward and deep adult charm that Saito Hajime possesses in a new form that I pursue in my own way.”
The anime will be distributed on Prime Video from 12:00 on July 7th, and sequentially on other services from 12:00 on July 10th. The opening theme has been decided as “Hiten” by Ayase, who is active as a Vocaloid P and composer for YOASOBI, and R-Shitei (Creepy Nuts).
