Sentenced to Be a Hero’ Light Novels Set to Make Anime Debut”

During the live-streamed Dengeki Bunko 30th anniversary event, an exciting announcement was made on Sunday.

It revealed that Rocket Shokai’s sensational light novel series, “Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004” (Yūsha-kei ni Shosu: Chōbatsu Yūsha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku), is currently in the works to be adapted into an anime.

Yen Press has obtained the rights to publish the novel series in English, and it provides an enticing description of the story:

Heroism: a retribution reserved solely for the gravest wrongdoers. Those condemned to assume the mantle of a hero are compelled to confront the demon king’s horde on the treacherous frontline.

Sentenced to Be a Hero

Perishing in battle merely ensures their revival, sentencing them to an eternal struggle. However, when their commander, found guilty of slaying a deity, encounters another divine being, the pact they forge possesses the potential to reshape the very fabric of our world.

Rocket Shoka initiated the light novel series on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu platform in October 2020, and Kadokawa commenced the print publication of the series in September 2021. The fourth volume of the series was released by Kadokawa in December 2022.
