Bandai Namco Entertainment has just released an exciting character trailer and a second video introducing new weapons for the upcoming action role-playing game, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection.

This highly anticipated game is set to launch in the West on October 6, making it available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. For fans in Japan, the release date is just one day earlier on October 5.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the game is the inclusion of original characters, drawing inspiration from previous Sword Art Online titles.
What sets this game apart is its unique storytelling approach. It will present its own interpretation of the War of Underworld arc, deviating from both the original light novel series and the anime adaptation. The development team is proud to announce that this installment will boast the franchise’s most extensive character roster and an impressive number of engaging story episodes. To add to the excitement, ReoNa, a familiar voice to fans, is returning to perform the game’s theme song, “VITA.”
In terms of voice talent, Risae Matsuda has taken up the role of Yuna, replacing the late Sayaka Kanda. Matsuda will lend her voice to Yuna in the new game, while Kanda’s iconic vocal songs will remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, the Sword Art Online franchise continues to make waves with its anime film series. “Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night” marked the series’ cinematic debut in Japan in October 2021. The second installment, “Sword Art Online The Movie – Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night,” initially scheduled for a September 2022 release, saw a slight delay but eventually delighted fans in October 2022.
