The beloved manga series “Teasing Master Takagi-san” has officially come to a close after captivating readers for a remarkable decade. The final chapter was unveiled in the November issue of the Monthly Shonen Sunday, published on October 12. To mark this significant moment, a promotional video has been released, paying tribute to the conclusion of this cherished series.

“Teasing Master Takagi-san,” authored and illustrated by Soichiro Yamamoto, first debuted in the Monthly Shonen Sunday Mini in June 2013 before finding its permanent home in the Monthly Shonen Sunday in July 2016. The manga’s popularity also spawned several spin-offs, including “Ashita wa Doyobi” (2014), “Koi ni Koisuru Yukari-chan” (2017), and “Karakai Jozu no (Moto) Takagi-san” (2017). A fourth spin-off titled “Karakai Jozu no Nishikata-san” is slated to begin serialization in the Monthly Shonen Sunday in November 2023.

Yen Press has secured the English licensing rights for the main manga, offering the following synopsis: “Middle schooler Nishikata has had it with his classmate Takagi–the chronic teaser who sits nearby. Day in and day out, she comes after him with every sort of trick or prank. Even when he tries to get her back, she’s always one step ahead. But rest assured, it’s only the beginning. He’s not about to give up that easily in this battle of cunning and youth!”
The series also made its mark in the world of anime with three successful seasons. The first season aired from January to March 2018, followed by the second season from July to September 2019, and the third season from January to March 2022. Additionally, an OVA was released in July 2018, and an animated film adaptation premiered in June 2022.
To further extend the legacy of “Teasing Master Takagi-san,” a live-action drama adaptation was announced in March of the same year. The main roles of Takagi and Nishikata will be portrayed by Rui Tsukishima and Soya Kurokawa, respectively. This highly anticipated drama is set to debut on Netflix in March 2024 before being broadcasted on the TBS channel’s Drama Stream programming.
