Helming the anime project is Noriaki Akitaya, known for directing acclaimed series such as “Bakuman” across all three seasons and “Slow Loop.” The scriptwriting is under the capable supervision of Yukie Sugawara, who previously worked on all four seasons of “Overlord.”
The anime stars:
- Mikako Komatsu as Lorrane Vivie
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Sheila Ibarss
- Ryōta Suzuki as Rentt Faina
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Rina Rupaage
Furthermore, character designs for the series are masterfully crafted by Takao Sano, recognized for contributions to “The Honor Student at Magic High School” and “Restaurant to Another World.”
The dark fantasy narrative, published in English by J-Novel Club in both its light novel and manga adaptations, follows the journey of Rentt Faina, a ten-year adventurer, known for battling monsters despite lacking exceptional talent. His routine mainly consists of hunting Slimes and Goblins for modest earnings. However, everything takes a dramatic turn when he stumbles upon an uncharted passage within the Labyrinth of the Moon’s Reflection.

At the end of this mysterious path, Rentt encounters not treasures or riches, but a legendary dragon that swallows him whole in an instant. Remarkably, Rentt awakens later, not entirely dead but far from alive—he’s reduced to a mere pile of bones! Armed solely with his trusty sword and tool belt, and adorned with a ghastly appearance, Rentt embarks on a new quest as a reborn Skeleton, aspiring to attain Existential Evolution and ultimately regain his human form, allowing him to return to civilization.
The question that looms large is whether Rentt can achieve his extraordinary transformation, or if the labyrinth will consume him for the duration of his peculiar existence.
