The manga revolves around Makio Kōdai, a 35-year-old novelist, and her 15-year-old niece Asa, who share a household. Makio impulsively took Asa in after the passing of Asa’s parents, including Makio’s elder sister. However, Makio quickly realizes her discomfort around others.

This marks the inception of their daily life, with Makio adjusting to a roommate role and Asa adapting to an adult figure who defies convention.
The manga’s origin traces back to June 2017 when Yamashita launched it in Shodensha’s Feel Young magazine. A live-action film based on the manga is set to premiere in 2024.
Yamashita introduced The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window, a supernatural mystery boys-love manga, in Libre Publishing’s Magazine BExBOY in March 2013, concluding it in December 2020. The manga has been digitally released in English by SuBLime. It also inspired a live-action film in January 2021 and a TV anime that debuted in October 2021, streamed by Crunchyroll.
