In the past decade, Studio Mappa has done a lot of great anime. It covered a lot of genres in the last decade. It covered stories of male friends, stories of outcasts, of pain, of losing someone, gaining something. It made people go through every emotion possible. Here are some of its best anime work according to me.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu kaisen is a new-age anime. It’s a story about a kid in his teens who was in school’s occult club for fun. He finds a cursed object which changed his life. He finds himself fighting curses and host to the most powerful and king of curses ‘Sukuna’. His goal is to protect his friends until they can execute king of curses. Also, he wants to know the perfect way to die.
Chainsaw man
Denji used to kill devils with the help of his pet devil ‘Pochita’ to clear his debt from the yakuza but when they had no more use of him. They ordered to kill Denji. He was dead but Pochita merged with him and granted the power to change any part of his body to a chainsaw. Now he works with a government organization to fight devils and wants to achieve his teenage dream to live a peaceful life with the girl he likes.
Dororo
This is the story of Dororo who meets a boy who has no limbs, no nose, no eyes, no ears, nor even skin yet still, he lives. He is the son of the samurai lord who for his greed made a pact with demons and in return gave his son well being and left him to die. A man provides him with prosthetics and weapons so that he can survive. This kid has to kill all the demons to get back what is rightfully his. Now this duo fights for their survival in this demonic world.
Inuyashi
Ichirou Inuyashiki is a 58-year-old family man who is going through a difficult time in his life finds that he has stomach cancer and has only three months to live though he tries to be strong, his family’s disinterest causes an emotional breakdown. Later he finds himself enveloped by smoke and dust. He discovers that he has been reborn as a mechanized weapon wearing the skin of his former self. He immediately uses his newfound powers to save a life, an act of kindness that fills him with happiness and newfound hope. But still, the origins of these powers remain unclear. Will there be a gift or Ichirou or another nightmare for him.
Yuri!! On the ice
Yuri a 23-year-old ice skater come back home to try different career options after facing a crushing defeat in the Grand Prix finals. He was once countries most famous and promising ice skater whose other interests in life were not enough to help him with his career. But everything changes when one of his old videos went viral. He found himself again preparing for the world stage. Competition in front of him is fierce but this is his only chance so he has to win.
Hajime no Ippo: rising
An always bullied kid Makunouchi Ippo is awed and amazed at his new surroundings in the gym when he wakes up after getting beaten up by some bullies. Though he lacks the confidence to attempt anything. With a sudden desire to get stronger, for himself and his hard-working mother, Ippo trains relentlessly to accomplish the task within the time limit. Thus Ippo’s journey to the top of the boxing world begins.

This is the story of Suzu Urano before and after war-torn Japan. As she integrates into her new married household life, what will she do when the war reaches her own door. how will she support herself and those she loves?

Jujutsu kaisen 0 movie
We know it will release in the future but still, it is going to be one of the best works of Mappa. This is set in the same world of jujutsu sorcerers but these events occurred slightly before the events which are going on. It is the story of Yuuta who was cursed by his childhood friend who died in a car accident. Before his execution, he was saved by Satoru Gojo who has different plans for him. He finds his place and some wicked dangers in the world of jujutsu sorcerers. The movie is set to release on 24th December this year.
Yasuke
A Netflix presentation, ‘Yasuke’ is a story about the first black samurai. Set in 16th century Japan, this story is set 20 years after the death of Shogun Oda Nobunaga. Yasuke has to pick up his sword again after living so long in shadows to save the life of a little girl who needs a doctor. But she is not just some little girl, she has some special powers which mercenaries and armies want at their disposal.
Kids on the slope
A pianist and introverted student Kaoru Nishimi joined high school in Kyushu. Because he moved to a lot of places since childhood so he became a loner. But he made his first friend Sentarou Kawabuchi because of music.
With the help of music, he starts to break out of his shell. He made new friends and found his love for music.
It is a story of friendship and music of three unique individuals brought together by their mutual love for jazz.
