Today we are going to provide you a list of Anime and Manga which are very similar to the recent popular hit anime named Jujutsu Kaisen which is based on a manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. Jujutsu Kaisen Brief Intro
Jujutsu Kaisen (Japanese: 呪 術 廻 戦, literally “Sorcery Fight”) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. The individual chapters are compiled and published by Shueisha, with thirteen Tankōbon Volumes published as of October 2020.
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA premiered on MBS in October 2020.
In a world where demons prey on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryoumen Sukuna were lost and scattered. If any demon consumes parts of Sukuna’s body, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there is a mysterious Jujutsu magician school that exists to protect the precarious existence of the living from the undead. Anime / Manga Similar To Jujutsu Kaisen
SYNOPSIS: One day on the bus, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people burned alive with a blue fire and a boy his age who is unharmed and standing on people. She returns to the site the next day and there are no dead bodies or evidence of some kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find that there is a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw earlier and wears a black glove only on her left hand. Oogami is a Code Breaker, one that “doesn’t exist”. He is an apparently cold-blooded murderer who follows the principle of “tit for tat”, of “using evil against evil.” Convinced that killing isn’t right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his frozen heart.
12. Kamisama Kiss
SYNOPSIS: After her father ran away due to gambling debts and was evicted from his apartment, Nanami meets Mikage, a strange man who is afraid of dogs. Nanami “saves” Mikage from a dog and tells him his story. He gives Nanami his house as a thank you for saving him. Nanami accepts the offer, due to nowhere to go. Mikage draws him a map that shows him where to go. Upon arrival, he discovers that it is a sanctuary in ruins. Nanami is nearly killed by Tomoe, who hoped that Mikage would finally return after his 20-year absence. She is then greeted by Onikiri and Kotetsu, as the new god of the sanctuary land. Unable to accept Nanami as the new god of the earth, Tomoe taunts her and then leaves the sanctuary, which, without Tomoe’s power, is transformed back into a ruinous state. Not wanting to rob Tomoe of her home and realizing that her powers as a god are too weak anyway, Nanami leaves but is eventually brought back by Tomoe after she seals a contract with him, making him her familiar.
11. The Ancient Magus’ Bride
SYNOPSIS: The plot centers on Chise Hatori, a girl who has lived a life full of abandonment and abuse, without anything like love. Away from the warmth of the family, she has had her share of problems and traps. Just when all hope seems lost, a fateful encounter awaits him. When a man with the head of a beast, wielding strange powers, obtains it through a slave auction, Chise’s life will never be the same again. The man is a “wizard”, a sorcerer of great power, who decides to free Chise from the bonds of captivity. The magician then makes a bold statement: Chise will become his apprentice and his girlfriend.
10. Kyokou Suiri
SYNOPSIS: Hidden in plain sight, the spirits known as youkai inhabit the world. While most are benign, a certain subset threatens the tenuous peace between youkai and humanity. Since agreeing to become their “God of Wisdom”, Kotoko Iwanaga has served as a mediator between the two kingdoms, solving any supernatural problems that come their way. At a local hospital, Kotoko approaches Kurou Sakuragawa, a college student whose term relationship ended with an unfortunate breakup. Kotoko harbors feelings for him and suspects that something supernatural lurks in his harmless appearance, so she asks Kurou for his help in helping youkai. Two years later, news of an idol being accidentally crushed to death by steel beams flooded the press. However, months later, the sightings begin to speak of a faceless woman wielding a steel beam. As is the case with any supernatural problem, Kotoko and her partner set out to prevent this spirit from wreaking havoc, but this case can turn out to be much more sinister and personal than they ever thought.
9. The Morose Mononokean
SYNOPSIS: Ashiya is a high school student who was possessed by a diffuse demon when he started his first day of high school, which made him very ill. He requests Abeno’s help to exorcise the demon but ends up working to make Abeno pay his debt. A crying but kind-hearted boy, he seems to have a mysterious power that has yet to be revealed in the manga series.
8. Beyond the Boundary
SYNOPSIS: Mirai Kuriyama is the only survivor of a clan of warriors from the Spirit World with the power to use his blood as weapons. As such, Mirai is tasked with hunting down and killing “youmu”, creatures said to be the manifestation of negative human emotions. One day, while deep in thought on the roof of the school, Mirai meets Akihito Kanbara, a rare half-breed of youmu in human form. In a panic, she plunges her bloodsaber into him only to realize that he is an immortal being. Thereafter, the two form an impromptu friendship that revolves around Mirai constantly trying to kill Akihito, in an effort to boost her own wavering confidence as a warrior of the Spirit World. Eventually, Akihito also manages to convince her to join the Literary Club, which is home to two other powerful warriors from the Spirit World, Hiroomi, and Mitsuki Nase. However, as the group’s bond grows stronger, so does the tenacity of the youmu around them. Their misadventures will soon turn into a fight for survival as the inevitable release of the mightiest youmu, Beyond the Boundary, draws near.
7. Yuu Yuu Hakusho
SYNOPSIS: One fateful day, Yuusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old criminal with a dark future, has a miraculous opportunity to turn things around when he throws himself in front of a moving car to save a child. His latest sacrifice is so out of place that the spirit realm authorities are not yet ready to let it pass. Koenma, heir to the throne of the spirit realm, offers Yuusuke the opportunity to reclaim his life by completing a series of tasks. With the guidance of the death god Botan, he must thwart evil presences on Earth as a spiritual detective. To aid him on his adventure, Yuusuke recruits former rival Kazuma Kuwabara and two demons, Hiei and Kurama, who have criminal pasts. Together, they train and fight enemies that would threaten the very existence of humanity.
6. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
SYNOPSIS: Tanjiro Kamado is a kind-hearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family in the mountains. After the death of his father, he has become the sole source of income for his family, making trips to the nearby town to sell charcoal. Everything changes when he comes home one day to discover that his family has been attacked and killed by a demon. Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the only survivors of the incident, and Nezuko was transformed into a demon, but he still shows surprising signs of human emotion and thought. After an encounter with Giyū Tomioka, a demon slayer, Tanjiro is recruited by Giyū to also become a demon slayer and begins his quest to help his sister become human again and avenge the deaths of the rest of her family.
SYNOPSIS: It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his companions and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village. The story is told in two parts: the first set in Naruto’s preteen years and the second in his teens.
The main leads are extremely overpowered thanks to being permanent hosts of cursed demons/spirits. They both have immensely strong wills and that helps them not to be completely overcome by the demon / cursed spirit within them, and they can use their powers. They both revolve around a trio of ninjas/shamans who attend the same school. One of the objectives is to protect ordinary people living from harm.
4. Black Clover
SYNOPSIS: Asta and Yuno are orphans raised on the outskirts of the Clover Kingdom. In a world where people are born with magic, Asta was born without any. In contrast, Yuno was born a prodigy with above-average magical power and the talent to control it. Additionally, at his coming of age ceremony, Yuno receives a rare four-leaf clover grimoire, just like the original Magic Emperor. On the other hand, Asta received a tattered grimoire where a devil lies, a five-leaf clover grimoire. The story follows Asta and Yuno as they climb the ladder of the Magic Knight Order of the Clover Kingdom, in the middle. from the scrutiny of the nobles, to become the Magic Emperor. However, the title is only preserved for a single wizard. Who will achieve the coveted title of the strongest wizard in the kingdom, Asta or Yuno? …
SYNOPSIS: Set in an alternate 19th century, it tells the story of a young Allen Walker, who joins an organization of exorcists named the Black Order. They use an ancient substance, Innocence, to combat a man known as the Millennium Earl and his demonic army of Akuma who intend to destroy humanity.
SYNOPSIS: Parasyte is a Japanese sci-fi horror manga series written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki and published in Kodansha’s Morning Open Zōkan magazine and Monthly Afternoon from 1988 to 1995. The manga was published in North America first by Tokyopop, then by Del Rey and finally Kodansha Comics.
Shinichi Izumi, 17, is partially infected by a Parasyte; monsters that kill and consume humans. He must learn to coexist with the creature if he is to survive both the life of a Parasyte and that of a human, as part monster, part person.
SYNOPSIS: Fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki is a typical teenager with fighting skills, two caring sisters, and one special trait: he can see ghosts. However, when Ichigo and his family find themselves under attack from a huge beast, Ichigo discovers that there is more to the supernatural world than the everyday specter. Vengeful spirits known as Hollows roam the world in search of devouring souls, and Shinigami, the soul reapers, work tirelessly to defeat them and guide the normal ghosts to a place called Soul Society. Ichigo fights valiantly against the Hollow that threatens his sisters, but on the brink of defeat a Shinigami named Rukia grants him his powers, turning him into a Shinigami. Ichigo must now adjust to his new life of defeating and saving souls for the good of Soul Society.
Similarities To Jujutsu Kaisen
- In both of these anime, the main character has cursed spirits in their body.
- The main character is a common carefree high school student.
- Both have to stop evil spirits to harm ordinary human beings.
