The harem anime genre is one of the most popular anime genres, especially among young male anime fans. A number of girls chasing you and want to be with you, this thought really makes the imagination go wild. For people who don’t know anything about the harem anime genre, it roughly means three or more characters (mostly female) who potentially show romantic interest in a male protagonist. This genre is mostly sub-part of romance, comedy, or action genre in anime, manga, etc.
The most loved combination among harem fans is harem X ecchi or harem X romance, if all 3 together then it is going to be epic. 22. Haganai: I Don’t Have Many Friends

SYNOPSIS: Kodaka Hasegawa, a transfer student at St. Chronica Academy, has had a hard time making friends due to his mix of brown-blonde hair (inherited from his late English mother) and fierce-looking eyes that make him look like a criminal. One day, he accidentally runs into the equally lonely and very abrasive Yozora Mikazuki while she is conversing with “Tomo”, his (imaginary) “air” friend of his. Realizing that they lack social life and skills, they decide that the best way to improve their situation is to form the Neighborhood Club, “an after-school club for friendless people like them.” Other students with different backgrounds join the club: Sena Kashiwazaki is an attractive but arrogant idol who has no friends and treats children like her slaves; Yukimura Kusunoki is an effeminate young man who idolizes Kodaka and strives to become manly like him; Rika Shiguma is a genius scientist with a perverted mind; Kobato Hasegawa is Kodaka’s little sister who usually does vampire cosplay; and Maria Takayama, a foul-mouthed ten-year-old nun who works as a club advisor. The story follows their adventures as the club tries out various outside school and social activities for practice in making friends.
Haganai is an entertaining show, the humor genuinely makes you laugh. The animation is very bright and colorful, with awesome visual artwork. The music of the anime is enjoyable but not that great, to be honest. The aspect where the show shines is the character interaction. The way the character interact is good and makes up for pretty much every other aspect. This anime gravitates more towards comedy and harem is more of a sub-genre.
21. My First Girlfriend is a Gal

SYNOPSIS: High school boy Junichi Hashiba regrets not having a girlfriend as his classmates seem to be dating everywhere. His single friends and his bachelors force him to boldly confess his love to Yukana Yame, a beautiful “girl” at school. Although Yukana easily determines that Junichi really just wants to lose his virginity, she agrees to be his girlfriend. Junichi soon attracts the affection of other girls who have known Junichi or Yukana for a while, including his childhood friend and neighbor Nene, Yukana’s friend Ranko, and the school madonna, Yui.
The art and animation of the show are smooth as well as easy going, no complaints in this department. The overall sounds could have gotten more focus, but they are good. The protagonist is the same weak, timid, and shy guy with no physical activity going around. The harem aspect is fully satisfied for the audience. But I don’t know why I really liked the show maybe it is because I read the manga first. You should definitely give it s try.
20. Heaven’s Lost Property

One night, while he was witnessing a strange anomaly in the sky, a UMA (Unidentified Mysterious Animal) crashed nearby. Tomoki discovers that what fell from the sky is a winged humanoid named Ikaros from an unknown world in Synapse, who soon declares herself Tomoki’s servant. From then on, more creatures are known as “angeloids” arrive; With this, he loses his peace and tranquility, but at the same time he finds pleasant things that the angeloids bring him and he fights against the forces that fall on Earth.
To be anime was surprising as the animation was not that bad. The anime has a different concept, unlike many others. The anime characters are not that developed compared to many others but anime is worth a watch as it has many fan service moments.
19. Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend

SYNOPSIS: Tomoya Aki, a high school teenager who works part-time to fund his otaku lifestyle (anime, dating sims, and related products) meets a beautiful girl one day during spring break. Hoping to create a visual novel computer game, he turns to school beauties Eriri Spencer Sawamura to design the art, and Utaha Kasumigaoka to write the game’s setting. Tomoya then recruits Megumi to star as the “heroine” (the main character’s love interest) in his game, thus forming the “Blessing Software” development team, in which the school’s three most recognized students (Tomoya, Eriri, and Utaha) work on one of the less notable (Megumi). Their superpowers have now become part of their everyday life as they battle others wielding similar powers as they struggle to grow up.
The characters are quite nice. They have their own stories and they all have a fondness for the protagonist and there is quite a bit of comedy. Each character is unique in its own way. This series is intended to be viewed as a romantic comedy series. I picked it up thinking there would be a good deed with some rom-com because who doesn’t like superpowered action harem rom-com anime. But there is hardly any action in it. But romantic comedy is good enough to enjoy. This anime is the average romcom harem anime set in school and all characters belong to the literature club.

12. Rosario + vampire

SYNOPSIS: Youkai Academy is a seemingly normal boarding school, except that its students are monsters who learn to live with humans. All students attend in human form and take normal academic subjects such as literature, gymnastics, foreign language, and mathematics. However, there is a golden rule at Youkai Academy: all humans found on the school grounds must be executed immediately! Tsukune Aono is an average teenager who cannot get into any high school due to his poor grades. Without realizing it, his parents enroll him in the Youkai Academy as a last-ditch effort to secure his education. When Tsukune unknowingly enters this new world, he has an encounter with the most attractive girl on campus, Moka Akashiya. Deciding to stay in the dangerous realm in order to further his relationship with Moka, he does not realize that beneath her beauty lies a menacing monster: a vampire.
The anime has a theme that is very catchy after watching anime, it gets stuck in your mind. Most of the early episodes gets are just character introduction. The charming thing is the relationship that develops b/w Tsukune and Moka, while they are not alike. The animation style is old but attractive character designs make up for it. Episodes after the mid and really good. The anime and manga have slight story changes in case you go for manga.
11. Outbreak Company

SYNOPSIS: Shinichi Kanou is the main protagonist, he a locked-in otaku with a vast knowledge of anime, manga, and video games, etc. One day, after applying for a job in hopes of escaping his isolated lifestyle, he is kidnapped and transported to the Eldant Empire, a fantasy world filled with elves, dragons, and dwarves. Trapped in this strange land, Shinichi receives an unlikely task from the Japanese government: to spread otaku culture throughout the kingdom by becoming an “Otaku Missionary”. To fulfill his mission, Shinichi has the full support of the Japanese government, as well as the half-elf maid Myucel and Princess Petralka of the Eldant Empire. Together with this heterogeneous group, he will overcome the obstacles of politics, social class, and ethnic discrimination to promote the ways of the otaku in this holy land.
I have recently finished this harem anime and my thoughts are pretty fresh on it, by far Shinichi is the most entertaining character in the show, while his female counterparts have nothing much to contribute to the audience. The anime gives you a tensura vibe throughout, the show has good animation but in some scenes, you can notice inconsistency as well. The music is decent, overall you should definitely give it a try.
10. The Eden Of Grisaia

SYNOPSIS: Yūji Kazami transfers to Mihama Academy, a school with only five female students and characteristics similar to those of a prison. Each student at the school has their own “circumstances” to be there, but Yuji is not obligated to do anything about his situation, as he asked for normal student life. However, based on the decisions he makes while at Mihama Academy, he will eventually choose to get involved on his own account.
The animation looks great for a 2014 anime. The dark color palette fits the dark side of the story, and the character design is pretty good, none of the characters look the same. The music is quite good and fits well with the scenes in which they appear. The EDs were good, but I didn’t find them as noticeable as the opening. The voice actors do a good job too, I have no complaints here.
9. In another world with my smartphone

SYNOPSIS: Fifteen-year-old Touya Mochizuki is accidentally killed by God. As an apology, God allows him to be resurrected, but since he cannot send him back to his old world, he reincarnates him in a fantasy world along with a single special request. Touya uses his request to bring his smartphone to the new world with him, which God modifies. As such, although Touya cannot contact his old world with him, the phone can be easily recharged by magic and can otherwise function as accessing old-world data and can use functions relevant to his new world, such as the GPS function for locations that are fully identified on it.
God also greatly amplifies Touya’s physical, magical, and cognitive abilities to some extent as one more apology for the inconvenience of killing him. Making the most of his second chance at life, Touya befriends many different people, mainly women (its harem, what else he would do) and high-ranking people in the new world. He begins to travel from country to country, settling political disputes, minor missions, and casually amusing himself with his new allies. The anime is very easygoing, and you know what’s going on and what will happen next. The main purpose of every action leads to Touya having a new bride. The anime is full of fan service moments and you people will have nose bleeds. The animation is pretty decent and the music is also good as the intro stays in your head for quite some time.
8. We Never Learn!

SYNOPSIS: Nariyuki Yuiga is a high school student who attends Ichinose Academy, and in order to get a college scholarship, she must be a teacher to three female geniuses of different subjects: Fumino Furuhashi is a genius in literature, but horrible in math; Rizu Ogata is a genius in math, but terrible in literature, and Uruka Takemoto is a genius in the athletic field, but terrible in all other subjects. As the girls work with Nariyuki to achieve her academic goals, they must also deal with her growing feelings for him. As the story progresses, they focus on two other girls: Mafuyu Kirisu, their teacher who despite her professionalism, is lazy at home, and Asumi Kominami, a rōnin who has the appearance of a high school student despite your age.
Near the end of the story, at the Ichinose School Festival, it is rumored that the people who dance together at the stake are destined to become a couple. During this event, Nariyuki meets one of the girls, but her identity is obscured on the first release of the chapter. The story has five separate endings with Nariyuki ending with one of the five girls. While her endings vary, the focused girl is the one Nariyuki found at the stake. In the final chapter, the girls see glimpses of these endings in another reality after they touch Nariyuki during the festival, and it is revealed that the legend of the bonfire school was created by Nariyuki’s late father in his youth.
7. The World God Only Knows

SYNOPSIS: Keima Katsuragi, known online as the legendary “God of Conquest”, can win the heart of any girl, at least in dating simulation games. Actually, she opts for the two-dimensional world of games over real life because she’s an otaku obsessed with galge games(Interactional Japanese Games based around attractive girls).
When he arrogantly accepts an anonymous offer to prove his dominant position with supreme status in dating simulation games, Keima is tricked into helping a naive and mischievous demon from hell named Elucia “Elsie” from Lute Ima with his mission: to retrieve escaped evil spirits. from hell and scattered throughout the human world. Keima discovers that the only way to capture these spirits is to conquer what he hates the most – the unpredictable hearts of 3D girls! Tied to Elsie via a deadly necklace, Keima now has his title of “God of Conquest” put to the test as he is forced to navigate through the hearts of a crowd of real-life girls. There is nothing more from my side, just respect for the protagonist.
6. Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs

SYNOPSIS: The series follows the life of the unfortunate and homeless high school student Kogarashi Fuyuzora. In your search for a home, he introduces you to the Yuragi Inn, a cheap guesthouse and former hot spring inn. The reason the rent is so cheap is because he is haunted by the beautiful ghost spirit Yuuna, whose corpse was discovered at the inn. Kogarashi then helps Yuuna with his unfinished business, while he uncovers the supernatural secrets of the rest of the tenants.
This harem anime has one of the most numbers of girls fighting over one girl. This show is just filled with no no ecchi scenes, basically, war on multiple fronts for one guy among several beautiful girls. The guy is strongest and also most ignorant of all. I read the manga first and yes as always manga is better, but for anime watchers, the show is a visual treat.
5. Nisekoi

SYNOPSIS: Raku Ichijo appears to be an ordinary boy, with the best grades in his class and aspires to enter an elite university and work like any other, the truth is that Raku is the son of the head of the yakuza of the city and successor of this, something that he does not want because he does not think he has what it takes and does not like that lifestyle. In his past, Raku met a young girl, who gave him a necklace in the shape of a padlock, promising to meet again and open that necklace together, to reveal what is inside. Currently, Raku studies with Shuu Maiko and Kosaki Onodera, whom he suspects is the girl who gave him that necklace in his childhood.
It is another beautiful anime that I really love, the series is more of a romantic comedy. The animation and music are pretty good. It is pretty similar to Rent a girlfriend and Quintessential Quintuplets. Many times you feel bad for the protagonist as he repeatedly gets stuck in some kind of trouble as he is a part of a Yakuza family. I read the manga before watching the anime and manga is better, other than that you must read its manga one-shot witch was very very good.
4. High School DxD

SYNOPSIS: The story follows Issei Hyodo, a silly and lustful second-year high school student who is murdered by a girl on their first date. Issei is reincarnated as a demon, and from that day forward, he serves as a subordinate to Rias Gremory, a high-level demon who is also the prettiest girl on Issei’s campus.
This anime is the second name for harem anime. This one is most popular among harem fans because it is like a teenage boy’s imagination has become an anime. The series is full of no-no moments and scenes and has somewhat story as well. The series is having more focus on master and subordinate relations. You guys can give it a try if you haven’t watched it already.
3. Rent a girlfriend

SYNOPSIS: Japan is strange. You can rent dads, mothers, children, even a girlfriend. When Kazuya’s love rejects him, he is equally desperate to try the service. Good for him, the girlfriend he hires is very cute, but she wants to hide her relationship from her acquaintance. He is sorry that his new girlfriend goes to his university, his grandmothers are good friends and they are neighbors. Kazuya also discovers that his new girlfriend is not as sweet as in real life. How will your romance turn out?
This anime is kind of my current favorite for harem anime, the animation and art are just beautiful. All character designs are really attractive. Even the voice artists have done a phenomenal job. You might not like the protagonist as he is pretty much a useless guy, but girls are just adorable. I prefer its manga over anime, as a whole go for it.
2. Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches

SYNOPSIS: When Ryuu Yamada entered high school, he wanted to turn a new page and lead a productive school life. That is why he chose to attend Suzaku High, where no one would know of his reputation as a violent criminal. However, to Ryuu’s dismay, he soon gets bored; Now the second year, Ryuu has reverted to his old ways: lazy with abysmal grades and always getting into fights. One day, on his way back from another visit to the office, Ryuu meets Urara Shiraishi, a beautiful honors student. One misstep causes both of them to fall down the stairs and end in an accidental kiss! The couple discovers that he can change bodies with a kiss – a skill that will prove both convenient and problematic.
Upon learning of his newfound power, Toranosuke Miyamura, a student council officer and the only member of the Supernatural Studies Club, recruits them for the club. Soon joined by Miyabi Itou, an eccentric interested in everything supernatural, the group unearths the legend of the Seven Witches of Suzaku High, seven students who have obtained different powers activated by a kiss. The Supernatural Studies Club embarks on its first mission: to find the identities of all the witches. The manga to anime adaption of the show was really good. I loved the art and animation of the show, the music is decent. The story develops pretty quickly so you have to be invested while watching it.
1. Quintessential Quintuplets

SYNOPSIS: High school student Futaro Uesugi is an academically talented student who leads a difficult life: his mother has died, he has no friends, and his father has incurred a great deal of debt. He is presented with an opportunity when the wealthy Nakano family transfers to his school. Futaro is immediately hired as a highly paid tutor. However, to Futaro’s dismay, he discovers that his five caretakers, identical quintuplet sisters of varied personalities, have no interest in studying and have terrible grades. Some of the quintuplets are against having Futaro, whom they see as a stranger, in his apartment, but Futaro’s diligent tenacity gradually convinces those girls to accept him and improve their grades.
Throughout the series, Futaro develops special relationships with each of the quintuplets. Through a flashforward, it is revealed that he eventually marries one of them, but his true identity is only revealed near the end of the series. The thing that really blows up your mind is that all 5 sisters are only having the same appearance, other than that they have nothing in common. All 5 of them have unique personalities, they all like Futaro but he is facing difficulty to choose one of them. Sometimes this anime will test your patience, but for me and many others, Quintessential Quintuplets is on top of the harem anime genre.
These were the top 22 best harem anime according to me. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Do you agree with our list? Which of these have you already seen? Also, tell us in the comment section. Also check out:-
