The Tribe Nine game project was first announced in 2020 with a concept trailer (below) from Too Kyo Games and Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa, Akudama Drive). The development team is no stranger to anime, with their work on Akudama Drive and the Death Come True and World’s End Club video games.
The premise of the series is that different groups throughout the city of Tokyo participate in extreme baseball games, which end up being more like action-packed matchups than anything else.
In 2020, Kodaka told Weekly Famitsu that the project focused on “extreme sports” and “street fighting,” using the city as a playground for sport (although it is not known as a sport).
