Kodansha USA has officially confirmed to ANN that they no longer hold the license for Wataru Kubota’s manga adaptation of Makoto Shinkai’s acclaimed anime film, “Weathering With You” (Tenki no Ko).
Initially licensed by Vertical in November 2019, it’s worth noting that this license was time-limited and has now expired.

Here’s the premise of the story:
It’s the summer of Hodaka’s freshman year in high school, and he decides to make a daring escape from his island home to Tokyo.
In the heart of the bustling city, he grapples with a profound sense of isolation until a chance encounter introduces him to a girl named Hina.
However, Hodaka soon discovers that Hina possesses an enigmatic and extraordinary power.
The manga adaptation made its debut in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine in July 2019, with Kodansha releasing the third and final compiled volume in October 2020.

While the film initially premiered in Japan in July 2019, North American audiences were able to experience it in January 2020.
