During the MF Bunko J Editorial Department Information session at the label’s Summer School Festival 2023 event, fans were delighted to learn that Kei Sazane’s popular light novel series, “Naze Boku no Sekai wo Daremo Oboeteinai no ka?” (Why Nobody Remembers My World?), is getting a television anime adaptation. The announcement came with much anticipation, and the anime is scheduled to make its debut in 2024. To celebrate the occasion, a stunning commemorative illustration by neco was revealed, leaving fans eager for more.
Kei Sazane began writing the action fantasy light novel, known as Nazeboku for short, under the MF Bunko J label in July 2017. The series features beautiful illustrations by neco, known for their work on “Synduality: Noir.” After a successful run, the ninth and final volume of Nazeboku was published by Kadokawa in August 2020. The light novel series has garnered widespread popularity, boasting a cumulative circulation of 600,000 copies of its volumes as of February 2023.

The captivating story revolves around a boy named Kai, who finds himself in a perplexing situation. In a world where a great war between five rival races for supremacy on Earth ended with humanity’s victory under the hero Sid’s leadership, the world suddenly undergoes an “overwrite” right before Kai’s eyes. In this rewritten world, Kai witnesses humanity’s defeat due to Sid’s absence.
Dragons and demons now rule the land, and even Kai himself becomes a forgotten existence to all humans. However, everything changes when he encounters the mysterious girl, Linne. Determined to break free from this rewritten fate, Kai inherits the sword and martial skills of the hero Sid and embarks on a quest to challenge the powerful enemy races that now dominate the land.
The light novel’s popularity extended beyond its written format, as Monthly Comic Alive began serializing a manga adaptation by Arikan in February 2018. The manga adaptation has been well-received, and Kadokawa released the ninth volume in the series on February 21.
The upcoming anime adaptation of “Naze Boku no Sekai wo Daremo Oboeteinai no ka?” promises an action-packed and thrilling adventure.
