Yūya Sasagiri Debuts Angel Beats! Spinoff Manga

(Last Updated On: June 20, 2023)

Kadokawa’s G’s Channel website recently debuted Tabisuru Tenshi-chan (Tenshi-chan Goes on a Journey), a spinoff manga of Angel Beats! created by Yūya Sasagiri (known for Clannad: 4-Panel Manga Theater and Little Busters! 4-Panel). The original story is credited to Jun Maeda, while Na-Ga takes credit for the original character designs. This manga spinoff is also being serialized on Niconico Manga and Kadokawa’s ComicWalker website. G’s Channel website will provide early access to new chapters on the 15th and 30th of each month.

The spinoff manga follows Kanade Tachibana, renowned as Tenshi-chan at school, embarking on a nationwide quest to locate a “specific individual.” During her odyssey, she crosses paths with Yuri Nakamura, a vibrant and exuberant girl from Kanagawa. Tenshi-chan also encounters enigmatic beings resembling SSS (Shinda Sekai Sensen) members along her voyage. Will she ultimately succeed in finding the elusive “specific individual” she seeks?

Yuriko Asami’s Angel Beats! -The Last Operation- manga concluded its “first part” with the release of the fourth compiled book volume in March 2020. The manga was initially launched by Asami in Kadokawa’s Dengeki G’s Comic magazine in August 2017.

Angel Beats! Spinoff Manga

The Angel Beats!: Heaven’s Door manga, also created by Asami, reached its conclusion in October 2016 after running for 11 volumes. While Seven Seas Entertainment released the first volume in North America, subsequent volumes have faced indefinite delays. This manga series serves as a prequel to the anime and delves into the formation of the Afterlife Battlefront. It faithfully adapts the Angel Beats!: Track Zero light novel, with original story credit given to Maeda and original character designs by Na-Ga.

Additionally, a spinoff manga titled Tabisuru Tenshi-chan, also influenced by Maeda’s original story and featuring Na-Ga’s character designs, is available.

Sentai Filmworks secured the rights to distribute the Angel Beats! anime series from 2010 and made it available on DVD and Blu-ray. However, when Sentai Filmworks’ edition became unavailable in 2017, Funimation stepped in and included the anime in its collection. Additionally, the Angel Beats! 1st Beat PC game was released in Japan in June 2015.
